Victim's Name
As a victim of a crime, you may have suffered a financial loss. This is called “restitution.” Restitution can be court ordered at the defendant's sentencing hearing. Restitution covers direct out-of-pocket losses or expenses such as the value of lost or stolen property, medical care, mental health counseling, loss of wages, burial expenses, dental care, and other expenses resulting from the crime. Restitution in a criminal case does not include pain and suffering or compensation for emotional distress.
